Club Bonsai Market Workshop Program

PLEASE NOTE:
We are now returning to our original location from years ago at the Palmyra Farmers Market, alongside the classroom building opposite the oval and on the corner overlooking the verandah (we will no longer be under a marquee on the blue court). This will allow us more space and time to return to running personalised, single student Bonsai workshops on Sunday mornings from about 08:30 to 10:00. Note that pre-booking is essential...

Note also that the following Workshop information is frequently modified to suit individual needs and that all prices include GST...

If we can be of any assistance, please feel free to Call or Text us on 0419 047 244 or contact us here...

                                                   =================

Liana, our very own resident Bonsai guru is the Workshop presenter...

Important Pre-Workshop Comments from Liana:
To help me prepare your personal package I can use some information from you. Please note that your Bonsai will live outdoors in a protected area in either full sun or part shade, never full shade or within a building. It’s like a prison for them and they need fresh air just like you and I.

If you are bringing your own pots:
Please advise the size, shape, colour, clay or plastic etc. I will then bring enough supplies to satisfy our Bonsai activity.

If you are bringing your own tree:
Please advise the species and size eg. Moreton Bay Fig, Ficus macrophylla, Olive, Peach, Juniper... Also their heights - 40 cm tall, large fat trunk, in a deep pot, in a shallow pot, overgrown, bushy etc.

The space where your Bonsai will live:
Patio, balcony, shade house, empty bird bath, garden bed on bricks, brick fence, shady corner, sunny corner, windy strip, near swimming pool, near ocean, etc. (not indoors at all). Glass blocks radical elements of sunlight which are essential for tree growth.

Your personal likes in a Bonsai:
Exposed roots on rocks, classical Japanese Juniper, Fig forest with relaxing path and greenery, windswept, flowering with fruit, deciduous etc.

Your watering system:
Automatic reticulation (retic) on outside tap with timer, bore retic, no retic, hose and tap and time to relax and water by hand, water Bottle with nozzle. Regular daily summer watering is essential. Autumn is much less, winter is once a month, spring - depends.

Purpose of the Bonsai:
Celebration gift for loved friend or family, personal new project, repair of current Bonsai, addition to collection, donation to annual collection eg red cross, school fete, Christmas gift/gifts. Wedding gift, Birthday gift, get well soon gift.

I don’t need to know everything but thought that you might like to see the kind of information that will be important in owning a Bonsai and prior to presentation, in keeping it healthy.

Ongoing care is essential and I always offer advice and tutoring as long as you need, any season, any year. A Bonsai becomes a photosynthesizing pet and does need human care to survive and stay beautiful. Please visit me, Liana for ongoing Bonsai care...
