| The Venue
Conducted by Challenger TAFE Centre for Adult Education, our fourth workshop in this series entitled "Basics of Bonsai" was held at North Lake Senior High School in Kardinya on Saturday 29th of May 2004, with a total of 12 Bonsai enthusiasts attending for the day (16 were enrolled but the 'Flu kept 4 away). The large, modern 1st floor Science Lab was an ideal venue, giving plenty of room and a fantastic panorama of large trees though the western window. Presenter Liana and assistant Gay brought along the usual enormous array of workshop accessories including coffee, tea, milo and biscuits courtesy of the "Bonsai Palace Liana is Hungry" fund. |
The Event
 Attendees began arriving by 9.30am and kindly assisted in setting up the large range of workshop pots and trees. At the start of the workshop, there was ample time for students to choose their preferred species of tree and style of pot, and plenty of stock left for additional Bonsai or to take home. Liana handled the agenda, Bonsai creation and individual student tuition with all participants having plenty of opportunity to create their own Bonsai style and have their questions answered. Gay looked after enrollments, prepared the biscuits and superb hot drinks plus ensured a smooth workshop study and break time transition (thanks Gay!). There was little left by the end of the session as the excess soils, gravels and ground covers were distributed amongst the group of happy enthusiasts to be used at leisure.
